In the beginning of 2021, I set out on pursuing a do-it-yourself post-masters program, completely self guided studies, where I focused on sewing, fashion and sustainability, waste and reuse of materials, dreamwork, and pleasure activism. Hot Mask Summer: Hot Mask Summer is a fashion art piece featuring garments made of used N95 and medical face masks. A play on rapper Megan Thee Stallion's song "Hot Girl Summer" and the frenzy of many in the U.S. to return to a sense of normalcy and fun during the second summer of the Covid-19 global pandemic, this piece explores (with some humor) sexiness, safety, pleasure, disposability, and waste as it relates to our current reality.
